Unit IV: Pharmacology

Now it's time to really take things to a whole other level with understanding pharmacology. Inside this unit, you will learn a strong foundation in the drugs. This unit will teach you topics such as medication administration, multiple types of medication classifications, pharmacological pain management, how to do dosage calculations, understanding side effects and so much more.

Unit V: Safety and Infection Control

It's important that we as nurses really understand the potential health risks and precautions amongst our patients. Inside this unit, you will gain a better understanding of the different kinds of standard precautions, sterile technique vs clean technique, body ergonomics, radiation therapy and more.

Unit VI: Psychosocial Integrity

Psychosocial integrity comprises one of the smallest components of the exam but it is still very relevant. In this unit you will learn important topics such as mental health disorders, psychotropic medications, defense mechanisms, restraints and more.

Unit VII: Management of Care/Coordinated Care

Many of us often dread really learning and understanding topics such as priority of care and delegation. In this unit, you will gain a full comprehension of everything that goes into how patient care is overall managed. This will include topics such as continuity of care, delegation, nursing unit management, prioritization and the different roles between each personell (ie registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, unlicensed assistive personell and etc).

Unit VIII: Reduction of Risk Potential

To understand this category, you need to know to truly recognize emergencies in the way that is formatted on the exam. Inside this unit, you will learn from an array of topics which includes preop and post op care, enteral nutrition, ekgs interpretation, chest tubes, lab values, diagnostic tests, identifying potential complications and so much more.

Unit IX: Basic Care and Comfort

Inside this unit, you will understand the essential topics you need to know and understand in order to score the above passing standard in this category which includes topics such as understanding the Braden scale, skin integrity issues, special diets and nursing precautions.
